Wow!

I have to say that Cindy Woodsmall is probably one of my favorite authors. I recently finished The Christmas Singing, and it certainly didn't disappoint.
The Christmas singing is a wonderfully written story that follows a young Amish girl, Mattie. Mattie is a cake decorator who moved to Ohio after her heart was broken by her long time beau, Gideon. While in Ohio, Mattie becomes involved with Sol, a man with whom she feels her heart is "safe." However, she can't escape the voice from her past. "Is it behind your ear, Mattie Lane? " After a fire destroys her shop, she is forced to move home and face Gideon again after three years. She discovers the real reason for his betrayal, and is forced to choose between the man who has held her heart since childhood, and the man who she knows will never let her down.
I recommend this book to anyone. If you have never read any Amish fiction, this is one to start with.

I love the Amish!

I don't know why, but every since I was a small girl, I have been obsessed with all things Amish. I recieved a book from B4B to read and review. It was right up my alley. The Harvest of Grace, written by Cindy Woodsmall, is probably one of my favorite books to date. The heartfelt stories of the main characters, Sylvia and Aaron, kept me glued to this book until the very last page. Sylvia is a young Amish woman who was betrayed by her boyfriend and sister. When she felt she couldn't face another day in near them, she ran from her family to a new home, where she ultimately found love and forgiveness. I recommend this book to anyone who loves inspirational stories.

Blogging for books

I'm super excited to share with you a program I joined called Blogging for Books. I received my first book about a week ago.
I have to admit, this book was a slow read what first. Fortunately, it became more interesting as it went along. Overall, I was pleased with Awakening. I have always wanted to learn more about fasting, and this book was just what I needed. Stovall is on fire for Christ and it comes through with every sentence. While I'm still skeptical that fasting is for me, I'm going to give it a go. Awakening gives lots of testimonials and helps to give us an idea of what to expect when we fast. We are shown the purpose of fasting is to draw us closer to God. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a new way to connect to God.

I received this book for free from Blogging for Books in return for an honest review.

Side table

I found these tables at a yard sale the other day for $15.

They were pretty beaten up, but for $5 each I had to have them.
So I sanded them down. (See my birthday present? My hubby got me a new sander! He loves me.)

Then painted the top of one of the tables black and the legs silver. I love it! Hubby likes it too, so that makes me happy :)

School is back in session!!

Do you hear it? Listen closely. It's the sound of all the kids in Bartow County whining because school starts tomorrow. Yaaaaaaayyyyy!!!  Just kidding. I'm sad, really. I have loved spending time with the Fantastic Four.
This summer has been awesome! This whole year, in fact, has been amazing :)
                                                              I married my soul mate

Went on a road trip to Niagra Falls for an awesome honeymoon

And ...It's a boy!!

My new son Tyler :) A great kid :)

Although this year has been great, there was a horrible moment.
I watched as my hometown was destroyed by a massive storm system with several tornados, a week after I moved away.

I still feel like I got kicked in the gut everytime I drive through there. :(
I miss my friends and family like crazy. It seems I never get to see them anymore. Ugh, there goes that swift kick to the gut again. My heart hurts, but at the same time, I have never been happier. 2011 has been a wild ride for sure and it's not over yet! I'm hoping that, with school back in session, things can get back to normal and settle down a bit.

I Heart Coupons!!!

I love coupons. LOVE THEM! It's becoming a sickness, I think. I went to the store today and got 12 tubes of toothpaste, 6 bottles of body wash, 6 bottles of Dawn dishwashing liquid and a pack of gum for $1.24!!! Yes one dollar and twenty four cents!! YAY!!! I had to make my wonderful hubby go with me because companies are now putting a limit on using the same coupons in the same trip. Argh. I get it, though. Extreme couponing has become the rage. Coupons really do help out alot though. There are six of us, and I only work part time. I have to make up the difference some how. Oh well, as long as the hubby will tag along all is well :)

Kitchen Redo

So my wonderful hubby is scared of me trusting me enough to redo the kitchen. We are going to paint the countertops- thats right, PAINT  them.  I got the idea here. We searched youtube and found lots of tutorials on painting countertops. It looks pretty straightforward, so we figured, why not? If I mess it up we can just start over. He thinks I don't have enough to do anyways. :)

Happy Birthday Hannah!!!

Happy 8th Birthday to my beautiful Hannah!!! I love you so much. My life has been so enriched by you. You keep a smile on my face.

Let's try this again...

Hi! My name is Wendy. This is my second attempt at entering blogworld. I have a little more time now, so hopefully it won't flop this time. I've been inspired by all of the thrifty decorating blogs that I have come across and want to share my projects. So stay tuned and let's see what happens...
